How ClearCorrect Works

ClearCorrect treatment involves wearing a series of transparent aligners that practically disappear once they’ve been placed on your teeth. These trays are worn for about 22 hours a day – essentially, you should only take them out when it’s time to eat, drink, brush, or floss.

Each pair of aligners is carefully designed to straighten a small portion of your smile at a time until all of your teeth have reached their ideal positions. You’ll wear each set for about two weeks before moving onto the next. Throughout the course of your treatment, you’ll have to visit your dentist in Edmond every six weeks or so, but these appointments are brief – Dr. Smith will simply check your progress and provide you with the next few sets of aligners.

Is ClearCorrect Right for Me?

As an incredibly versatile solution, ClearCorrect can fix many of the most common orthodontic issues, including:

  • Crowded teeth – Do you sometimes feel like you have too many teeth in your mouth? If so, then ClearCorrect might be able to help. It can be difficult to clean teeth that are too close together. As a result, your risk of gum disease and cavities might be higher. ClearCorrect can bring your teeth into a more well-aligned position.
  • Gaps between teeth – Significant spaces between your teeth can also put you at risk for oral health problems (and bad breath!) since food debris can get caught in these gaps. In many cases, ClearCorrect aligners can give your teeth more even spacing.
  • Bite alignment – Overbite, underbite, crossbite, and other alignment problems can place stress on your jaw joint, leading to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, teeth grinding, and more. ClearCorrect can often fix minor to moderate instances of misaligned bites.

The Benefits of ClearCorrect

Compared to traditional braces, ClearCorrect offers many advantages, such as:

  • Speed – Braces take an average of two to three years to fully straighten your smile. Most ClearCorrect patients finish their treatment within 12 to 18 months.
  • Comfort and safety – Metal brackets and wires can irritate the soft tissues in your mouth. In contrast, the smooth plastic ClearCorrect aligners are made to comfortably fit over your teeth.
  • Aesthetic superiority – Unless you tell or show someone that you’re undergoing ClearCorrect treatment, no one should even be able to notice that you’re wearing the trays.

Understanding the Cost of ClearCorrect

Multiple factors could affect the cost of ClearCorrect, so we can’t give you a price estimate until Dr. Smith examines your smile at a consultation. Keep in mind, though, the cosmetic and health benefits of having a straight smile, and you’ll see that ClearCorrect is a priceless investment. Once we’ve determined the cost of your treatment, we’ll help you navigate your payment options, such as dental insurance.

Factors That Affect the Cost of ClearCorrect

We touched on the fact that multiple factors impact the cost of ClearCorrect, but what are those factors? Here are a few:

  • The complexity of your case
  • How many aligners are needed
  • If single-arch treatment is possible
  • If other orthodontic accessories are required, like rubber bands
  • How well you follow the treatment guidelines

The last one is very important because if you don’t wear your trays for the recommended 20-22 hours a day, your teeth won’t move as anticipated. There may even come a time when an entirely new treatment plan needs to be made, which can come with an additional cost.

ClearCorrect vs. Mail-Order Aligners: Which Costs More?

When comparing the cost of ClearCorrect to mail-order aligners, you’ll likely find that the latter is cheaper. Why? To start, they use DIY impressions and completely skip the initial consultation. The treatments aren’t supervised by a licensed dental professional either. These might all seem like perks… until the impressions are inaccurate or there is nowhere to turn when something bad happens, like your teeth begin to move in the wrong direction. In short, even though it requires a higher upfront investment, it’s worth choosing ClearCorrect.

Does Dental Insurance Cover ClearCorrect?

Not always. However, there are some dental plans that include a once-in-a-lifetime orthodontic benefit, which can be used for treatments like ClearCorrect but does not renew. If you’re unfamiliar with your coverage, then you can always call your provider directly or ask us for help! Dr. Smith is in-network with Delta Dental, MetLife, Cigna, and Healthchoice. As a result, we can answer any questions you have about your benefits and file the paperwork on your behalf (after answering any questions you have, of course)!

ClearCorrect FAQs

Even before our patients arrive for their consultation, they have lots of questions about clear aligner treatment. Fortunately, we love answering questions! Whether you want to learn more about how ClearCorrect works or what happens after you’re done, we’re more than happy to help you find the answers. In addition to giving our team a call or talking to us at your appointment, you can also read on for the answers to FAQs!

Can You Eat with ClearCorrect?

Although there aren’t technically any dietary restrictions, there are a few rules you should follow. First, never eat with your aligners in since this can cause them to warp or break entirely. Second, keep your consumption of foods and drinks with added sugar to a minimum. Otherwise, you may develop a cavity or two throughout your treatment, which can put it temporarily on hold. Third, always brush and floss your teeth after eating and before putting your trays back in.

Does ClearCorrect Hurt?

It’s common for patients to be concerned that their teeth-straightening journey will be painful. However, the large majority of patients only report minor discomfort. The good news is that not only is this sensation temporary, but it can also easily be alleviated by sipping on cool water and taking an OTC pain reliever. It can also be helpful to transition to a new tray directly before bed. That way, you sleep through the time when your teeth are adjusting the most.

How Do I Clean My ClearCorrect Aligners?

Contrary to popular belief, cleaning your aligners doesn’t require denture cleaner or any other special tools. All you need is a soft-bristled toothbrush and some lukewarm water! If you’ve been cleaning your aligners after each meal but they are still looking a bit yellow, then let our team know. We can help you pinpoint what’s causing the discoloration as well as what you should do to prevent it moving forward.

What Happens After ClearCorrect?

Once you’ve achieved the beautiful results you desire with ClearCorrect, it’s time to move onto the next step: making your retainer. This small orthodontic device plays a large role in preventing orthodontic relapse (which is when your teeth begin to drift back into their previous positions). Fortunately, retainers today are more discreet and comfortable than ever. Plus, many patients only have to wear theirs at night!

Does ClearCorrect Give You a Lisp?

Hands down, one of the most common misconceptions patients have about clear aligners is that they will alter their speech. Fortunately, that’s not the case for the overwhelming majority of patients. Furthermore, the small percentage that do can rest assured that it’s temporary – your tongue just needs some time to adjust! You can even speed up the adjustment period by reading aloud and repeating any difficult words you come across until they sound natural again.
