Advanced Dental Services & Technology – Edmond, OK

Always Pushing Forward

Needless to say, dentistry has changed quite a bit since Dr. M. Kent Smith started practicing back in 1988, which is why he dedicates much of his free time to researching the newest, proven dental technology. That way, if a particular instrument is shown to help patients enjoy more comfortable and higher quality care, he can quickly bring it to our dental office so you and the rest of Edmond will benefit from it. You’ll be amazed by how much our team can accomplish in a single appointment thanks to our technology!

Intraoral Cameras

To make sure nothing gets past us during your routine exams, we won’t just shine a bright light into your mouth during your next checkup. Instead, we’ll use a small intraoral camera to take close-up images of your entire oral cavity. This enables us to see your teeth and gums more clearly compared to a traditional visual exam, helping us identify potential issues even earlier so we can take care of them right away. Dr. Smith can even go over your images with you so you leave each appointment with a better understanding of your oral health.

Soft-Tissue Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry might sound like something out of science-fiction, but it’s an everyday reality at our dental office! Our soft tissue laser allows our team to remove harmful bacteria and tartar buildup from deep below the gum line while minimizing swelling, bleeding, and discomfort to practically non-existent levels. Dr. Smith can even use it to give patients quick and easy cosmetic gum lifts to make their teeth appear longer and more attractive!

All-Digital X-Rays

X-rays allow our team to look at the portions of your teeth hidden below the gum line where many dental issues can develop out of sight, ranging from decay to oral cancer. We’ve long upgraded to digital X-rays, which offer a number of advantages compared to traditional film. The images show more detail, can be developed much faster, and the entire process exposes patients (and us!) to 90% LESS radiation.

CariVu® Cavity Detection System

CariVu cavity detection system

For a long time, the only way to search for cavities involved repeatedly poking and prodding every tooth looking for small holes made by decay. This process is time-consuming, not always reliable, and not very pleasant for the patient! These days, however, our CariVu® system allows us to simply scan the teeth with a special light that reveals even the slightest indication of dental wear. With it, we can find decay sooner and intervene right away before it has a chance to even become a cavity.
